My last blog post will be a goodbye to all of the people who followed my blog and that were interested in reading my post's. I had fun in this class with Dom, Sarah and Nick. We made some fun smelly memories with Nick's farts. I will miss this class and writing about interesting topics and what not. So long bloggers.

Final Analysis

During the process of creating a guide, I chose the technology of newer hockey equipment and explained how to acquire it and how to prepare for playing hockey. I chose these technologies because I am very familiar with them and the process was very common to me and I do it on a day to day basis. My user was a friend of mine who played hockey when he was the age of 4 so it was still fairly new to him. During his use of my guide I took notes on how he was doing while reading the guide off to him.

What I learned from this process was how to vividly explain something so uncommon to someone else. Creating a guide can be a simple solution to many problems. They just have to be specific and understandable. When I gave my guide to my user, it took him a minute to get situated but then after he understood the concept of how to use the guide he flew through it and did fine.

I learned from watching other people use my guides that not everyone understands you sometimes. Or people do not understand directions the same way as you. For example on step six where it explains how to tie your skates, my user didn't understand the meaning of tightening them by the way I explained it. He just tied them like regular shoes and didn't tighten them. These are the kinds of things where people don't always understand what you mean.

The changes I made to my guide was including the technology about the things I used in my guide like the hockey stick, or the helmets etc. It was important to include the technology in the steps to inform the user that the things being used are safe and updated. The changes I would have made would have been explaining the steps with a little more emphasis on each of them, that might have helped with the understanding of each step.

To summarize my technology survey, which asked about having a smartphone which 75% of my users did have smartphones, It also asked about their favorite type of social media website and asked about how much time they used each site. The final questions were about seeing cyber bullying and how much they saw it, which 100% see's cyber bullying on social media websites, and finally 100% of the people who took my survey does have internet at their house.

Social networking.

Social networking began with a site called myspace in the early 2000's and then came facebook created by Mark Zuckerberg in october of 2003 after a late night of drinking in his Harvard dorm room for fun. If you have seen the movie "The Social Network" you know the story. He created the website with the intention of connecting college campus's with each other. With the evolution of Facebook it became more and more popular. After Facebook came Twitter, all of these social networking websites were created with the intention of connecting old friends, finding new people and staying in touch with family. With the creators not knowing what these websites would become they have started a lot of controversy. Internet bullying has become one of the main reasons for teens committing suicide. People think it is okay to judge, bully and criticize others behind the protection of a keyboard and it is really sad. In my opinion the internet has it's pros and cons. There are some things that people use and create that are negative for other users to see and use. Privacy is also important online and it has become scary for some users to even use certain websites due to the amount of information that website is asking them for. I don't mind the internet if something asks me for information I don't feel comfortable giving I just forget the website. Some things could change like the way websites are created by asking too much information and the websites creator needs a way to prove that the website is not a scam. Other than that the internet is alright in my book.
